The theme of this year’s workshop is “Triple Bottom Line – People, Planet, Profit” being held at the new Vancouver Island Conference Centre in beautiful Nanaimo, BC September 16th – 18th, 2009.
Workshop Chair Alan McDougall, the workshop committee and BC Institute staff have been busy at work putting together what promises to be an excellent program for this year’s event offering outstanding value and great opportunities for networking and professional development for our members and the supply chain management community.
Whether a C.P.P. or not, this is your opportunity to take advantage of the educational and networking opportunities provided with this workshop and perhaps a bit of down time away from the day to day office environment at this beautiful location. We trust your experience will be a great one as the culmination of efforts of the Volunteer Committee, BC Institute Staff, participation of presenters, and of course you the delegates!

The ‘Managing Construction and Other Major Projects’ workshop

SPEAKERS: Steven Bauld, VP Ontario General Contractors Association, Kevin McGuiness, lawyer with Ontario Attorney General
And special guest speaker Warren Perks, Director of Industry Practices for the BC Construction Association

As part of the Summit magazine series of workshops on challenges in public procurement, we are taking the next workshop on Managing Construction and Other Major Projects to BC! With the support of the BC Institute of PMAC, the workshop will be held Friday, June 19th at 9:30-4:30, (location: Delta Burnaby Hotel & Conference Centre, 4331 Dominion Street, Burnaby, BC).

Managing Construction and Other Major Projects will help you deal with the investment opportunities for rebuilding our municipalities. The discussion leaders are Steve Bauld, former city manager of the City of Hamilton and now VP of the Ontario General Contractors Association, and Kevin McGuinness, a lawyer with Ontario’s Attorney General. Steve and Kevin have enormous background in public procurement and the passion to share their expertise with practitioners at all levels of government.

Summit magazine and the BC Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) are pleased to bring this workshop to you in partnership. As promised, we are pleased to announce that in addition to Steve and Kevin, Warren Perks, Director of Industry Practices at the BC Construction Association will also participate as a guest speaker to the workshop to focus on some of the challenges chosen.

The following topics are on the agenda as we spend the day discussing infrastructure procurement in an economic downturn. We welcome your comments and additions.

- Proposal Evaluation: The Bullet-riddled side of Every RFP

Cost PMAC Members and BCCA Members $475 + gst, Non-Members $575 + gst, includes lunch, conference materials, and take-away copies of two of Steve and Kevin’s recent books, one on municipal procurement and the second on leadership.
